A few things to know about me...
I'm a writer based in Bend, Oregon, a hang-onto-your-hat kind of mountain town where people talk more about what they do for fun rather than what they do for work.

I write about the things I love the most: family, nature, food, and adventuring across this beautiful planet. Sometimes I dive into thoughts about creativity as a driving force in my life, and how to get the right words out of my head and onto the page. These days, I'm deep into my first book-length writing project, which means I spend a lot of time researching old trail maps, the history of women's suffrage, and life in the American West in the early 1900s.
I started freelance writing when my three boys were at that tricky age: too old for daycare and just old enough to find wildly creative and possibly dangerous outlets for their energy. In other words, they needed an adult presence around. They grew up building bike jumps in the woods and skiing at Mt. Bachelor, our local hill. A free-range childhood with a safety net. They've since grown into goodhearted, adventurous young men.
Now that they have launched, it's my turn to go free range, along with my hubby (another goodhearted adventurous soul) and pup Tapio, AKA the master of disaster. I'm so grateful for the the days I get to write and paint as we explore new places. This blue planet we call home is full of magic and beauty, and I do believe that the more we share our experiences, the more we'll try not to mess it all up. Right?
I hope you enjoy the stories I post along the way, and appreciate any insights or comments you'd like to share!
